These two prints are believed to date to approximately 1850. "Sergeant Champe" was drawn by J.L. Morton and is 3 1/4" by 5 3/4". It illustrates a man with a horse in water with men firing firearms from boats. "The Desertion of Sergeant Champe" is by J.G. Chapman for the Columbian Magazine. It is 4 1/2" by 5 1/2" and shows a man on horseback.
